Serving on a board is a significant way to use your expertise and make a positive impact on a company. It’s a position of great trust, privilege, and responsibility.
You may think, “I would love to serve on a board, but I’m not sure how to get there… What is the next step?”
Or, you may have started down a path towards seeking out board of directors positions, or you currently serve on a board and want to add more to your portfolio. However, you stalled out, got discouraged, or don’t think you have time to achieve this goal.
This sounded a lot like me a few years ago. I had a long career in leadership, startups, and tech. Most notably, I was co-founder and EVP of webMethods, Inc. which I grew from my basement to a $200m global, Nasdaq company with 1,100 team members.
As a result of these experiences, I believed I had valuable expertise to offer a board and pursued the goal of board service. However, shortly after embarking down this path, I had little luck working with recruiters to secure a board position, and I was discouraged. It caused me to wonder if I would achieve this goal.
I learned through trial and error that there’s no one path to a board, but there are steps you can take now to accelerate your path to board service.
Now I serve on several public company boards and advise high performing leaders on how to prepare for board service.
I’ve developed a three-part video series with proven steps and am delighted to share it with you. It’s called 3 Keys To Joining A Board. In this video series, you will discover the three secrets to becoming board worthy and board ready.
As you watch the videos, you may conclude that you are ready to take your leadership to the next level and accelerate your path to a corporate board, or grow your existing board portfolio. If so, you can sign up for my April 20th online workshop and create a personalized plan that will help you become board worthy and board ready. Learn more and register for the live workshop.
